I’m finally reading A People’s History of the United States. To people who liked that book or are interested in it, I’m gonna recommend African Muslims in Antebellum America. The individual narratives are so epic and substantial, some of you will be surprised you hadn’t heard of them before. If you want a quicker version of their stories as well as a broader swoop of Islam in America, you can check out Muslims in America: A Short History in which you can find out about cool stuff like this.
EDIT: haha whoops I had the wrong book up earlier, but Servants of Allah is good, too. The one up-top focuses more on the individuals.
