Even though he streamed a Harvey Milk album way long ago, I’m still so impressed to see someone likeĀ Lars Gotrich on a big station like NPR. I don’t follow much music journalism, but his two 2011 top picks lists blow so many others I’ve seen out of the water.
And geez, for once there’s a substantial amount of new widely-popular metal albums that don’t suck! There might be a small trend of blackened psychedelic leaning stuff or industrial-y death metal present, but they manage to be all pretty high-quality unlike what’s been in the past three indie trends (ex-music director cred) so whatevs.
